Things to do in Destin

“You live in the most beautiful location but what is there to do for fun”?

This is the most common question that I, as a local, get asked.  You would think it’s a fairly easy question to answer but with such a myriad of activities, it’s probably the hardest question to answer.

Most vacationers look at the obvious, the sand, sun and the ocean and are content to spend their days on the shore and in the water but there are a number of things to do in Destin, Florida. Home of the world famous fishing rodeo, and the Destin Pirate Ship, Destin Florida offers some of the most intriguing and fun things to do on vacation with the family.  Ahoy matey! Do ye have a thirst for adventure on the high seas? Sword fights, treasure hunts,  dancing and face painting are just a few of the activities hosted on the one of a kind all wood, authentic Destin Pirate Ship hosted. With very accommodating prices and an experience you won’t soon forget, there are cruises and activities for the kids and for those 21 and up only.  “Great Family fun” and “Educational fun for the whole family” are just two of the 217 positive reviews they have from satisfied customers.  Taking only 2 hours to complete it won’t fill your whole day but is definitely something I would recommend. If pirates aren’t your cup of tea, there are plenty of other activities to get engaged in. Destin Shark Fishing is a favorite among locals and is something I loved to do as a kid with my dad. With the season running from April until October there’s plenty of opportunity to book a Destin shark fishing charter with Fifth Amendment fishing charters. One of the largest sharks ever caught was a 765 lb tiger shark.  Afraid of sharks, that’s no problem either since we also have regular deep sea fishing charters as well. Paddle-boarding is a fun, safe alternative to shark-fishing, or a fun activity for after the pirate ship.  Paddle-boarding is a global sport, fun for all ages and a great exercise, and jet-ski rentals through “Destin Jetski” will bring enough enjoyment for the whole family to fill up on.

Enjoy our emerald green waters as you paddle through Destin Harbor. Don’t have the coordination for paddle-boarding, not real fond of sharks?  Turn that frown upside down and book a dolphin excursion with Souther Star dolphin cruises.  Generally taking about 2 hours for a full trip, you can feed birds, and watch dolphins.  They also have kids steering wheels, and it’s year round! With over 116 positive reviews all of whom recommend the dolphin cruises, do not miss out on this great adventure.   Now if you don’t have kids. Girls can find plenty to do, shopping in Destin is truly legendary. Make sure to check out TheXperience Destin to know just what I mean.

Explore the many retail malls and outlet centers along the Emerald Coast.  Spend time at the nations largest designer outlet, with over 110 brand name stores or head to the Destin Commons, Grand Boulevard, or the Village of Baytowne Wharf and finish shopping or have a bite to eat.  All of the shopping isn’t just for the girls though, guys can also find something with stores like  Bass Pro Shops, Colombia Sportswear, you’ll have all the equipment you need to enjoy your vacation in Destin no matter what you decide to do.  So whether you’re looking for a couples getaway, or a family vacation,  Destin, Florida has more than what you need and no matter what you decide to do it will be the experience of a lifetime.
